Where the dates come from
Every date in the Explorer comes from an official awarding-body timetable or assessment schedule, and every record links back to the document it came from. JCQ key dates are used as a cross-board check for the common Summer 2027 series.
What this Explorer covers
How we verify the timetable data
Short version: we do not retype dates. Every record is generated from the awarding body's own published document and checked back against it automatically.
The full method
- Keep the original awarding-body record separate from the normalised tutor2u record.
- Use official final PDF timetables as the publication authority, and official spreadsheets where available for ingestion.
- Retain board, qualification, component code, date, session or window, published start time, duration, source and verification date for each record.
- Represent tiered, optional and unit-based entries explicitly, so students are not shown papers they do not actually take.
- Keep an immutable local copy of every source document and record its SHA-256 fingerprint, so a republished timetable is detected rather than assumed.
- Re-read every source document independently of the ingestion path and compare each record against it on code, date, session and duration before publishing.
- When an awarding body republishes, compare the new document against the archived one and review exactly which records moved before approving any change.
This process has already caught and corrected two errors that no structural check would have found — an AS Economics paper given its A-level sibling’s session, and a GCSE History option set given the wrong half of the day.
