The narrator

Accounts fall into a few families. Current accounts come in three flavours: a student account, a standard current account, and a paid-for (packaged) account. Savings run from easy access and fixed rate bonds, through the ISA family (cash, stocks and shares, Lifetime, innovative finance), to Premium Bonds. They can look alike from the outside and behave very differently. You'll meet people with real situations and pick the account that fits. Get it right, see why. Get it wrong, also see why.

What you'll do

  • Round one: eight people, each with a money situation. Pick the account type that fits each best.
  • Round two: five short tasks. Match each one to the facility of a current account that does the job.
  • Some people have more than one defensible answer; the feedback will say so.
  • End screen: your score plus a reference card of every account and facility.

Why this matters

Most adults end up juggling two or three of these accounts at once without ever thinking about it. It is worth being able to tell the account families apart and to match an account to a situation. This is where it is easy to slip up: people know the names, but mix up what each one is actually for.
