Mathematics is the most-entered A-Level in 2026 with 115,380 entries. The table covers the 64 subjects the Explorer lists, accounting for 896,643 of the 906,425 UK A-Level entries JCQ reports.
The 64 A-Level subjects currently covered by the Explorer, ranked by entries, with the percentage achieving each grade threshold and the change in the A*–A rate versus 2025. Click a subject for its full board-by-board page.
These 64 subjects are those the Explorer currently covers. Together they account for 896,643 of the 906,425 UK A-Level entries JCQ reports for 2026 (all boards, all ages). The remaining 9,782 are in categories JCQ groups differently from our per-subject taxonomy (for example Art & Design and Design & Technology, which we show as individual specialisms, and minority languages JCQ groups as “Other Modern Languages”) or subjects we do not yet list separately. This is not “every A-Level entry” – it is every subject we cover.

Entry counts for 2026 use JCQ’s all-UK figures (all five awarding bodies, all ages); earlier years and individual exam-board pages use the four boards’ own published totals. Year-on-year entry changes are calculated on the consistent four-board basis. See the interactive Explorer.
Entry counts show what students entered, not what every student would have chosen if every subject were equally available. Provision, timetabling and teacher supply all shape these totals.
